MACBETH in Hiview3
Hiview3 provides the ability to evaluate criteria that are wholly qualitative. Using exclusive MACBETH techniques it is possible to create robust and consistent decision models using entirely verbal judgements, with no numerical data.
Hiview3 uses MACBETH functionality to build preference scales and value functions directly in a Hiview3 model. MACBETH weighting of criteria is also available as an optional module.
MACBETH (Measuring Attractiveness by a Categorical Based Evaluation Technique) is an interactive approach that requires only qualitative judgements about differences to help a decision maker or a decision-making group quantify the relative attractiveness of options. It employs an initial, iterative, questioning procedure that compares two elements at a time, requesting only a qualitative preference judgment.
As judgements are entered into the software, it automatically verifies their consistency. A numerical scale is generated that is entirely consistent with all the decision maker’s judgments. Through a similar process weights are generated for criteria.
